Parlini Land For Schools is operated by Venturevate Ltd

1. Introduction & Company Details

The Parlini Land platform including Parlini Land For Schools. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, particularly students and educators.

2. Our Role: Data Processor vs. Data Controller

Under GDPR:

  • The School is the Data Controller: The school decides which students use the platform and what data is uploaded.
  • We are the sole Data Processor: We only process student and teacher data based on the instructions of the school to provide the language learning service.

3. Data We Collect

We limit data collection to the minimum necessary for the platform to function:

  • For Teachers/Administrators: Name, school email address, and professional contact details.
  • For Students: Student names (or pseudonyms/IDs provided by the school) and language learning progress data (e.g., levels completed & access to the platform)
  • Technical Data: IP addresses and browser types (used solely for security and system administration).

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process data under the following legal grounds:

  • Contractual Necessity: To provide the service the school has subscribed to.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with Maltese and EU laws.
  • Legitimate Interest: To maintain platform security and prevent fraud.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

  • No Commercial Sharing: We never sell, rent, or trade student or teacher data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
  • Service Providers: We may use trusted technical sub-processors (e.g., secure cloud hosting like AWS or Google Cloud). These providers are contractually bound to the same high standards of GDPR compliance.

6. Data Security & Storage

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest.
  • Location: As a Maltese company, we prioritize storing data within the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • Low-Stimulation Design: Our platform is designed to be a safe, focused environment for children, minimizing unnecessary data tracking.

7. Retention & Deletion

  • Active Subscriptions: Data is kept for the duration of the 12-month subscription.
  • Post-Expiry: Upon expiration of a subscription, we retain data for a 60-day grace period to allow for renewals.
  • Final Deletion: If no renewal occurs, all school and student data is permanently deleted from our active servers within 60 days of the account’s end date.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, users (via their school) have the right to:

  • Access their personal data.
  • Rectify incorrect data.
  • Erase data (“Right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data Portability (requesting a copy of their data).

To exercise these rights, students/parents should first contact their School Administrator, who will then coordinate with the admin team on [email protected]

9. Supervisory Authority

If you believe your data has been handled incorrectly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) in Malta (www.idpc.org.mt).
